Misdemeanor crimes are categorized as crimes of a lesser offense for which incarceration penalties are one year or less and for which a fine would not generally exceed $2,500.00. (ex. disturbing the peace, shoplifting, assault, disorderly conduct, domestic violence, minor drugs)
